This will be a regular feature where I will interview Lolita fashion models from my group LolitaLovers in the hope that it will bring them more exposure in the community.

To kick the interviews off, I interview sweet Lolita harlyharlekin.

Please introduce yourself...

Hello, my name is Hoa. This means Flower ^^

I was born in Vietnam, my parents moved to Germany when I was young. I went here to university to become a digital media engineer, currently I work in the video games industry.

My biggest interest besides my work is the Japanese fashion style lolita.
I've been into lolita for about two years now and I enjoy modeling in my spare time.



1. What is your favourite Lolita clothing store/label?

My most favourite brand is Angelic Pretty. Most of my wardrobe is from this label. I like looking at every lolita substyle but sweet is the thing which keeps me hooked.

For me, Angelic Pretty is simply the epitome of sweet lolita. I love their sweet and cute prints, the colors, the ribbons, the glitter on some of the dresses, the custom lace, just looking at all these details makes me so happy

I am also a big fan of Maki and Asuka, the AP designers. I had the chance to meet them and they are so nice and lovely!


2. What or who first made you interested in Lolita fashion?

I have seen pictures of lolitas ages before I started dressing myself in lolita - on the internet, in Japanese magazines, in mangas.

I always loved this style but didn't know it was called lolita. I had also no clue where to get these elaborate dresses, I thought it was impossible to obtain these outfits if you weren't living in Japan.

I used to dress in punk and VK style and was quite happy with that.
I don't sew, so sewing was never an option for me. But then, just by pure coincidence, I discovered the website of Germanys biggest lolita photo community ( www.dunkelsuess.de )
and was instantly blown away. For the first time I realized that there were beautiful lolitas outside of Japan!

I was even more excited about the fact that there are two lolita shops in Paris ( Baby the Stars Shine Bright and Angelic Pretty ), which is not far from where I live. I went to Paris for shopping in winter 2008/2009 and well, that was the beginning of everything you see on my DA ^^



3. Who do you admire, and who gives you inspiration?

I admire Takulu (or Takuru) so much, she is my most favorite Japanese sweet lolita! She and her lolita friends are such a great source of inspiration ! I also love Amo and Misako , who are official Angelic Pretty models.

One of my favorite models on DA is KassandraLeigh. She is an alt model and not a lolita in classical sense, but the few times she dresses in lolita it is such a refreshing take! I also love Crazysporkiam (the-crazy-spork), unfortunately she doesn't post many pictures of her amazing outfits on DA.


4. What is your most favourite outfit, and why?

My own favorite outfit is Sugary Carnival because well, I am a Sugary Carnival addict! I am the proud owner of three original Angelic Pretty Sugary Carnival dresses and my favorite colorway is black!

I also love how Takulu coordinated her black Sugary Carnival OP: 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lku… She makes me want to try out a white/grey wig.



5. Who is your favourite photographer that you have worked with?

Well, that's a tricky question, there is not just one "favourite" photographer for me. You can say that I love most of the photographers I have worked with, haha

I love photographers who concentrate on working with lolitas, especially the German ones. Because without them, I wouldn't have much of a portfolio honestly.

I was so lucky to meet knatroka shortly after I got started in this fashion. Her photos were featured in the English GLB and she was looking for lolita models for test shoots. She helped me so much building up my port!

I am also super happy that I got to know Revelio. She is not only a photographer but she is also genuinely interested in lolita fashion. We always get so many shoots done when I visit her and her friend essie-morbide and have so much fun and creativity! Last but not least, there is Nitemare-Photography from England. Her pictures are just amazing, full with vibrant colors! She is so skilled and a nice person as well, I want to meet her again!

I also want to mention another favourite photographer, but I haven't had the chance to work with her yet! It's Gurololi, she is so gorgeous and talented. Hopefully our paths will cross one day!



6. Obviously you are an active member of LolitaLovers, but which other groups would you recommend to aspiring Lolitas out there on dA?

I can also recommend LolitaFashion and Loli-Club, both among the biggest groups for lolitas on DA. LolitaLovers is escpecially nice, since well, I have the feeling that group founder is taking good care of the members ^^


7. What would you say is the best compliment you've received regarding your outfits?

I love getting compliments from other lolitas - but well the best compliment I received was from this older lady. I went for a walk with my boyfriend (I wore my Mermaid Symphony dress!) and that lady came our way. She looked at us, smiled, complimented my dress and then she turned to my boyfriend and told him that he is lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend. That was so lovely of her to say, that made my day! I am also very happy when little girls come to me and ask me if I am a princess!


8. What do you like doing in your spare time when you're not on dA?

I love my local fellow lolitas! I love hanging out with my lolita friends, going shopping or having tea and cake. I am a mod of our local lolita community "Candy Day", I organize regular meet-ups for the girls. It's fun to think out activities and where we could go and what we could do next. So far I have organized tea parties, a fashion show, a boat trip, raffles, museum visits, theatre tours and much more. It makes me proud to support the local community and it is very rewarding to see how much fun the girls have at the meets.

We are happy to welcome foreign lolitas a well, we had visits from the US and from Singapore before.

One of my "goals" is also to visit all castles in Germany. I love medieval, baroque and renaissance architecture. So far I have seen 10-15 (of course famous Neuschwanstein and Castle Heidelberg), but there is still a lot to go



Finally, what's your favourite dessert?

Everything with strawberries! Strawberries with cream, strawberry short cake, strawberry ice cream, frozen strawberry yoghurt, soo yummy!
