Welcome to Incredible Iconists Vol. 3

:bulletpink: 1. First up, please give us a little introduction; tell the readers who you are and how you found out about deviantART.

I'm Angela, a 24-year old icon and UI designer living in the Philippines. I found out about DeviantArt way back when I was still collecting icons for my Mac. :)

:bulletpink: 2. What was your first ever icon?

I used to create icons for my own use, then shared them at MacThemes. I started to release a theme first though before I released an icon. The iPhone theme was called 'Lush', which got a DD the day after I joined DeviantArt. It's not the best theme but hey, just a few went around in the 2G days. ;)

:bulletpink: 3. Do you currently own an iPhone? If so, what's the app you most favour and would recommend to any iPhone user?

Oh my, just one? It's a toss up between Simplenote and 1Password. For jailbreakers though, I would recommend the Cydia app, Xpandr. It's like Text Expander for your iPhone.

:bulletpink: 4. Opinions time: What do you think of the new iTunes icon?

Sadly, it looks like it took Apple 2 minutes to make that one. But wait, they also made the Mac App Store icon look like it. So, meh.

:bulletpink: 5. What projects have you most recently been involved in?

The most recent iPad project I was involved with is an app by Spreadsong called Books. The new UI will come out soon, and it'll be a pleasant surprise for those who already have the app.

The most recent iPhone project I was involved with is an app by NanoBrook Studios called 1List (NanoBrook is also behind the 1st iPad project I worked on, Recipy, which you can preview at RecipyApp.com). I'm genuinely excited about this app amidst the clutter of to-do apps in the App Store. Once you use it, you'll realize how much thought went into the UI to make it as easy and as efficient as possible. I can't share a preview of it yet, but I'll be posting one very soon on Dribbble, so watch out!

:bulletpink: 6. What would you say is your most favourite icon in your dA gallery?

Probably the Billings replacement icon because I'm a heavy Billings user, and I see it on my Dock everyday.

:bulletpink: 7. Aside from icons and design interfaces, what else do you enjoy drawing?

More than drawing, I recently took interest in photography (like who hasn't these days?). It's a 'baby' interest still, but who knows where that'll lead.

:bulletpink: 8. Who or what would you say are your biggest inspirations and influences?

Now I'd say Anton Zykin and his team but I just discovered about them this year. Early on, the people who helped and inspired me are: Jonas Rask, Davin Lanham, Susumu Yoshida, Louie Mantia, Natalie Nash, Na Wong, and a bunch of other great designers at MacThemes and Macristocracy.

:bulletpink: 9. What is your operating system of choice and why?

Mac. Cliche as it is, it just works.

:bulletpink: 10. What software do you use when you are making your icons?

Adobe Photoshop

:bulletpink: 11. Do you have any tips or valuable wisdom for aspiring iconists?

Release, release, release! That's how we can all practice and get discovered. ;)

:bulletpink: 12. Please tell us what you're currently working on, or tell us a little about your next project.

I'm currently working on a new (card) game for Optime Software that'll be for the iPhone and iPad.
